Astronomers from the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian have created the first continuous, two-dimensional maps of the sun's outer atmosphere, revealing that its boundary becomes larger and rougher during periods of increased solar activity. These findings may enhance models of solar influence on Earth and improve predictions for atmospheric conditions on other stars, according to Phys.org.
