Apple has announced that it will become the US streaming home for Formula 1 races starting in 2026, following a five-year deal. The Apple TV app will feature a dedicated F1 channel where fans can stream live races, practice sessions, sprint races, and both pre- and post-race coverage. In addition to live events, Apple will provide a variety of F1-related videos, including content on the new rules. The F1 TV feed will serve as the main broadcast, supplemented by the Sky Sports feed, which was previously used by ESPN for its F1 coverage. All races will be broadcast in 4K (Dolby Vision) with 5.1 audio. In a notable collaboration, Apple and Netflix have struck a shared-rights deal that allows both platforms to stream the eighth season of the popular docuseries "F1: Drive to Survive." This season will premiere on both Apple TV and Netflix, allowing subscribers to access it without switching services. The new season of "Drive to Survive" will be available starting Friday, coinciding with the first grand prix weekend of the year. This partnership marks a significant shift in how Formula 1 content is distributed, as Apple aims to enhance its sports programming offerings. The collaboration between Apple and Netflix for F1 content is seen as an unusual but strategic move to attract viewers and expand their respective audiences.
