The EU’s outgoing top trade official, Sabine Weyand, expressed skepticism about the prospect of an investment deal with China during her final appearance at the European Parliament. She suggested that the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, signed in late 2020 but subsequently frozen, should remain in a "deep freezer." Weyand hinted that new measures to address Chinese "macroeconomic imbalances" could be forthcoming.
