On November 23, 2025, the Hayli Gubbi volcano in northern Ethiopia erupted explosively for the first time, releasing ash and volcanic gases that reached the upper troposphere and disrupted flights across northern India and China, according to Phys.org. The eruption began at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time.
