Masked Israeli settlers launched their first major attack since initiating a siege in the village of Qusra earlier this month. On Saturday, the settlers besieged a Palestinian home in Qusra and assaulted residents in multiple other homes. The Israeli military reported that they responded to clashes involving "Israeli rioters" in Qusra. However, Palestinian residents claimed that Israeli forces attempted to arrest Palestinians who were trapped inside the besieged home instead of intervening to protect them from the settlers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attacks, referring to them as “criminal acts of violence.” He characterized the perpetrators as a “handful of rioters” who were violating the law and causing significant injustice to the law-abiding Jewish community. Netanyahu expressed concern that such violence interfered with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in carrying out their missions and negatively impacted Israel's standing in the world. His condemnation was echoed by President Isaac Herzog, who also criticized the violence in Qusra. The intensity of the settler attacks has drawn sharp rebukes from various Israeli officials, marking a notable response to the escalating violence in the region. Israel's Foreign Ministry labeled the incidents as "a disgrace." This incident follows earlier reports from August, where settlers had blocked supplies from entering Palestinian houses on the outskirts of Qusra and attacked a Palestinian family and a foreign media crew in nearby Jalud. The situation reflects ongoing tensions in the occupied West Bank, particularly in the villages of Qusra and Jalud.
