Groups of Israeli settlers crossed into Syria and Lebanon this week, advocating for the establishment of settlements in areas currently occupied by the military. Approximately 40 activists from the Halutzei HaBashan movement crossed the Syrian border on Wednesday, entering the village of Hader in the Quneitra governorate. Some members of the group barricaded themselves inside a building, tying themselves to it and calling on the public to pressure Israeli ministers not to remove them from Syrian territory. Video footage captured settlers on the rooftop of a building in Hader. The Israeli military reported that it intercepted about 40 Israeli settlers who attempted to cross into Syria earlier in the week. The group entered several hundred meters into the Israeli-controlled buffer zone before being returned to Israel and handed over to police. Israeli media identified the group as members of the right-wing “Pioneers of Bashan,” which advocates for the establishment of Jewish settlements in both Lebanon and Syria. The actions of the settlers have drawn attention due to their calls for territorial expansion and the establishment of settlements in contested areas. The Israeli army's intervention highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding border crossings and settlement activities in the region. The situation remains dynamic as the Israeli government and military respond to such incursions.
