Meta is planning to use data shared by other businesses to personalize user feeds and AI responses on Facebook and Instagram. According to a blog post, Meta already utilizes off-platform activity, such as games played and purchases made on other websites, to serve ads and will now expand this personalization to content. For instance, if a user recently bought a tent online, they may see camping-related videos in their Reels feed. Meta states that it is not collecting any new data with this update, but rather using existing information provided by businesses.
