A clump of human brain cells has learned to play the classic computer game Doom within a week. Although its performance is not comparable to that of humans, experts believe this advancement moves biological computers closer to practical applications, such as controlling robot arms. In 2021, the Australian company Cortical Labs developed neuron-powered computer chips that were able to play Pong.
