Former chairwoman of Taiwan’s Kuomintang (KMT), Hung Hsiu-chu, has called for cross-strait dialogue to end the “cold peace” and rebuild trust to avoid conflict. She emphasized that the key to cross-strait relations is mutual trust rather than confrontation. Hung also advocated for a return to the 1992 consensus, an unofficial agreement between Beijing and the then-ruling KMT in Taiwan.
