Iran has claimed that three of its pilots, identified as Javad Salehi, Abdolmajid Dashtian, and Omran Behraveshian, were captured by Qatari forces after their Su-24 fighter jets were shot down on March 2 during the early days of the ongoing U.S.-Israel war with Iran. General Mohammad Bagherzadeh of the Iranian armed forces stated that the pilots have been held by Qatari forces for six months. Iran has demanded the release of these pilots, asserting that they were captured alive following the incidents that marked the beginning of the conflict. In response to Iran's claims, the Qatari government has denied holding the Iranian pilots. Qatar has described Iran's statements as "misleading" and has consistently emphasized that it is not detaining the three pilots mentioned by Iran. The Qatari officials have not provided further comments regarding the situation, maintaining a firm stance against the allegations made by Iran. This denial has been reiterated across multiple reports, indicating a consistent position from Qatar regarding the status of the pilots. The dispute over the status of the pilots has contributed to rising tensions between Iran and Qatar amidst the broader conflict involving the U.S. and Israel. Iran has also disputed accounts from Kuwait related to the matter, indicating a complex web of narratives surrounding the incident. The lack of communication from Qatar complicates the situation further, leaving the status of the pilots uncertain and straining diplomatic relations between the two nations.
