Summary

A new five-year survey of the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, irregular dwarf galaxies and satellites of the Milky Way, is being initiated by a research group at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP) to enhance understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. The proximity of these galaxies, located approximately 163,000 and 206,000 light-years away respectively, makes them ideal for such studies, according to Phys.org.
