Israeli strikes pound south of Beirut, displacing more than 100,000 in a day

In the past 24 hours, more than 100,000 people have fled their homes in Lebanon due to ongoing Israeli strikes, bringing the total number of displaced individuals to approximately 667,000 since the onset of the attacks. These strikes began following actions by Hezbollah against Israel. The situation has escalated significantly, with Lebanon's Health Minister reporting that nearly 400 people have been killed in a week of fighting, including 83 children. Overall, Lebanon's health ministry has stated that at least 486 individuals have died and 1,313 have been wounded since the Israeli attacks commenced on March 2. Israeli airstrikes have targeted various locations in southern Lebanon, including the Bekaa Valley and towns such as Burj Rahal and Srifa. An Israeli drone reportedly targeted a vehicle in Burj Rahal, while other strikes hit areas including Arab Salim, Barghaz, and Majdal Selm. Additionally, an Israeli strike on a hotel in Beirut was linked to an assassination attempt, resulting in the deaths of at least four people. A senior Hezbollah official was also reported killed in the airstrikes. The conflict has seen projectiles launched from southern Lebanon towards Israel, indicating ongoing hostilities between the two sides. The situation remains fluid, with significant casualties and displacement affecting the civilian population in Lebanon.
