China unveils handheld coil gun that works like a ‘less deadly’ pistol

China has developed a handheld coil gun by miniaturizing electromagnetic cannon technology, according to state media. Designed for stealth and non-lethal operations, the weapon can fire between 1,000 and 2,000 projectiles per minute and penetrate wooden boards from dozens of meters away. Its power levels are adjustable, allowing for lower settings that reduce the likelihood of causing fatalities.
