Police in Toronto have expanded their case against four individuals following a protest against a speaking event featuring Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza. The additional charges include “taking part in a riot while masked” and “public incitement of hatred targeting members of the Israeli community” for two of the individuals. The protest was associated with an event hosted by Students Supporting Israel at Toronto Metropolitan University, part of a tour called “Combat on Campus.” The student group Students for Justice in Palestine claimed that protesters were attacked during the event and later arrested, although these allegations have not been independently verified.
