The Quantity Theory of Morality – raucously inventive state-of-the-nation satire

Will Self’s 1991 debut collection is titled The Quantity Theory of Insanity. The story features an art therapist named Misha Gurney, who is involuntarily sectioned in the psychiatric hospital where he works. Misha’s father is a friend and early associate of the hospital’s chief psychiatrist, Zack Busner, who is a recurring character in the collection.
