On August 10, 2025, a powerful landslide in Tracy Arm Fjord, southeastern Alaska, triggered a localized tsunami. Researchers have determined that this tsunami was the second-highest ever recorded, with a wave reaching up to 481 metres (1,578 feet) tall, surpassing the height of New York City's Empire State Building.
