Life Electric Vehicles Holdings (Life EV) has officially completed a court-approved acquisition of Rad Power Bikes, a brand that has faced challenges in recent times. The acquisition includes Rad Power's brand, intellectual property, inventory, and certain unspecified operating assets. Life EV has stated that it will continue to operate under the Rad Power Bikes name in the United States and has plans to expand into select key markets. This acquisition is seen as a significant step in revitalizing the troubled e-bike brand, which was once a dominant player in North America's direct-to-consumer e-bike market. Life EV has committed to honoring certain warranties and gift cards that were purchased prior to the acquisition. Furthermore, the new ownership has announced plans to manufacture new e-bikes in the United States going forward. To facilitate this, Life EV will implement a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) structure for its manufacturing operations, which will allow the company to benefit from special domestic customs procedures when sourcing parts from global suppliers. Rob Provost, CEO of Life EV, emphasized the importance of respecting and preserving the legacy of Rad Power Bikes, highlighting its innovative products and the passionate community of riders that have supported the brand. The commitment to building e-bikes in the U.S. marks a new chapter for Rad Power Bikes, although the feasibility of this initiative has raised questions, as similar promises have been made in the past.
