Blocking out the Stellar Lighthouses

NASA engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory are developing an optical solution to address the challenge of detecting Earth-like planets that are obscured by the glare of their host stars. These planets are ten billion times fainter than the stars they orbit. The team is nearing the performance levels required to effectively see these hidden planets.
