China has delayed its Chang’e-7 mission, which aimed to hunt for water ice near the moon’s south pole, until next year. The postponement occurred just hours before the scheduled lift-off, coinciding with an approaching major tropical storm. Chinese space authorities did not provide a reason for the delay. Experts believe this setback may slow China's lunar ambitions but will not significantly alter the competition with the United States over establishing a lasting presence on the moon.
