UCLA researchers have developed a mineral sunscreen formulation that reduces the white, chalky cast associated with traditional sunscreens by using tetrapod-shaped zinc oxide. Dermatologists have long recommended daily sunscreen application to protect against ultraviolet radiation, which is the leading preventable cause of skin cancer in the United States.
