Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted on Thursday, sending amber lava over 200 meters into the air. The eruption began after 11 am local time, as reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Lava fountains and plumes of smoke were visible on a livestream camera, and the episode has produced 3.6 million cubic yards of lava. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is closed due to the eruption.
