Blizzard is officially dropping the '2' from the game's name, transitioning from Overwatch 2 to simply Overwatch. The Overwatch team stated that the game is a living universe that continues to grow and connect players globally. The change comes after Overwatch 2 launched in October 2022 as a sequel with a free-to-play model, introducing significant changes such as a format switch from 6v6 to 5v5. The return of 6v6 modes has since been implemented. Additionally, five new heroes, including Jetpack Cat, will arrive on February 10.
