India, China, South Africa, and other BRICS nations are exploring the possibility of linking their digital currencies to reduce dependence on the US dollar. India's central bank has proposed connecting BRICS' central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), including the Digital Rupee, Digital Renminbi, and Digital Ruble, to facilitate cross-border payments. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is advocating for this initiative to be included in the BRICS agenda for 2026.
