Almost three-quarters of England is now in drought conditions

Almost three-quarters of England is currently experiencing drought conditions. Summer 2026 is expected to be the warmest on record in the UK, with severe drought and repeated heatwaves impacting much of the country, particularly in southern England, where rivers and reservoirs are low and trees are shedding their leaves.
