Zimbabwe is moving into lithium processing in an effort to transition from its traditional mining practices of exporting raw ore. This strategy follows the export of Africa's first lithium sulphate consignment by Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe, a subsidiary of China's Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, from its Arcadia mine near Harare. This milestone occurred after Zimbabwe advanced its ban on raw mineral exports to February this year.
