A research team from the Excellence Cluster ORIGINS at LMU and the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) has found that exomoons around free-floating planets could maintain liquid water oceans for up to 4.3 billion years. This stability is attributed to dense hydrogen atmospheres and tidal heating, allowing conditions conducive to life to exist far from any sun.
