The UK government plans to invest £3 billion to create up to 60,000 spaces for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in local state schools, according to Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson. This initiative aims to address the increasing number of children facing social and mental health challenges and will be partly funded by suspending planned free schools, saving an estimated £600 million.
