Samsung is integrating Perplexity into its Galaxy AI for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Users will be able to activate Perplexity by saying "Hey, Plex," which distinguishes it from the streaming service Plex. This addition is part of Samsung's strategy to create a "multi-agent ecosystem," allowing users to utilize different AI agents for various tasks based on their strengths. The integration aims to enhance user experience by providing more options for task management. Perplexity will have access to several Samsung applications, including Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Additionally, some third-party apps are expected to support Perplexity, although Samsung has not specified which ones at this time. This move comes just ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event, where further details about the integration and its relationship with the revamped Bixby are anticipated. Samsung's President, COO, and Head of the R&D Office for Samsung's Mobile eXperience Business, Won-Joon Choi, stated that the expansion of Galaxy AI is designed to offer users greater choice and flexibility in accomplishing their tasks. The Perplexity agent can also be activated through quick-access physical controls, enhancing its usability for Galaxy S26 users. This development reflects Samsung's commitment to evolving its AI capabilities and improving user interaction with its devices.
