Spotify is set to expand its offerings by partnering with Bookshop.org to sell physical books, starting in Spring 2026. This initiative will allow users in the U.S. and the UK to purchase physical copies of audiobooks directly through the Spotify app. The new feature will include a button at the bottom of audiobook pages, prompting users to "get a copy for your bookshelf." However, the purchase process will redirect users to Bookshop.org to complete their transactions (TechCrunch, Hollywood Reporter). In conjunction with this partnership, Spotify is launching a new feature called Page Match. This tool enables users to sync their progress between physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks within the Spotify app. By using the camera on their device, users can point it at a page of a physical book, allowing the app to match the text with the corresponding audio. This feature is similar to Amazon's Whispersync for Voice, but it uniquely accommodates physical books alongside audiobooks (The Verge, Engadget). The Page Match feature will be available in all regions where Spotify's audiobooks are offered. Additionally, Spotify is expanding its audiobook recap feature, which summarizes the plot so far, to Android users this spring, following its initial beta release on iOS last fall (Engadget). This move signifies Spotify's commitment to enhancing its audiobook offerings and supporting independent bookstores through its collaboration with Bookshop.org.
