Indie.io has announced the upcoming launch of Indie Pass, a subscription service dedicated exclusively to indie games. Scheduled to launch on April 13, 2024, Indie Pass will offer over 70 games at its inception, with additional titles expected to be added over time. The service will be available on PC and is priced at $6.99 per month, making it a more affordable option compared to other gaming subscription services like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $30 per month. The catalog for Indie Pass will include notable titles such as Echoes of the Plum Grove, a cozy game, the farm-based shooter Air Hares, and the tactical RPG Dark Deity. Indie.io has emphasized that the service will feature a "constantly evolving catalog," which suggests that the library will be regularly updated with new games. The company is actively engaging with indie developers and publishers to expand its offerings and enhance the service's appeal. Indie Pass enters a competitive market that already includes established subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, Apple Arcade, and Netflix's gaming library, all of which have made efforts to highlight indie games. Despite the presence of these platforms, Indie Pass aims to carve out its niche by focusing solely on independent titles and providing a dedicated space for indie developers to showcase their work.
