China’s Hesai adds colour to lidar as EV makers race to level up in self-driving tech

Hesai Group, the world's largest maker of vehicle lidar sensors, has introduced a new technology aimed at enhancing autonomous driving features by detecting color for improved object identification. The Shanghai-based company announced its 6D full-colour platform, which is designed to provide lidar sensors with leading capabilities in ranging and small-target identification. The term 6D refers to the sensors' ability to detect the X, Y, and Z coordinates of objects.
